Type Locality and Naming

Along the Aksu River, Talas Alatau. O.I. Sergun'kova, 1959 (382, p.59) in the volume of the mountain range. Stratotype on the watershed of the Dzhebagly and Kshi-Aksu rivers.

Synonym: Aksuiyskaya Suite, Аксуйская св.


Lithology and Thickness

Detrital and sludge limestones, locally clayey, siliceous, dolomitized with layers of clayey slates, dolomites, sandstones. Thickness 150-500m.

Relationships and Distribution

Lower contact

It conformably overlies the Itelguin Fm

Upper contact

It is conformably overlain by the Mashat Fm (439; 457; 460).

Regional extent

Talas Alatau and Chatkal Ridge.

Contains late Visean brachiopods - Gigantoproductus latissimus Sow., G. praemoderatus Sow., Dictyoclostus irsuensis Serg., D. dikarevae Serg., Striatifera striata Fisch.; foraminifera - Archaediscus möelleri Raus., A. karreri Brady, Asteroarchaediscus sp., Eostaffella prisca Raus., Omvalotis sp., Endothyra kirgisana Raus., E. prisca Raus. et Reitl., Globoendothyra sp., as well as rugose corals, bryozoans.
